Skincare Resolutions Easy To Keep In 2018

10 Easy Skincare Resolutions

I can’t believe how 2017 flew by! So many good things happened this year at Gia Minerals, new retail relationships, including new additions to the product line. We are excited for 2018 as our passion continues to grow in curating beauty products that truly deliver results.

I love the New Year. It’s a fresh start and brings with it endless possibilities so let’s talk skincare resolutions all you beauties must work to achieve this year. Are you taking the right steps to care for your skin the right way with the right ingredients that add an added benefit to skin? Beauties it’s time to act on a healthier you with an organic beauty routine that will offer a brighter youthful healthy complexion.

Studies have found that matching a good skin care regimen with a healthy lifestyle is the best way to slow the signs of aging. So let’s start.

1. Avoid Products With Harsh Chemicals

It’s about time you switch from beauty products with harsh chemicals and fillers that strip the skin of its natural oils creating a barrier for a glowing complexion.  Luckily here at Gia Minerals beauty products are curated with good for you natural, organic, botanical, antioxidants and rich oils that work synergistically with the skin to provide a youthful flawless complexion. Try using more than one product at a time to see the difference your skin really deserves.

2. Never Skip A Wash Before Bed

You’ve heard this a million times, but washing your face before bed really is the #1 rule of skincare. It can be tempting after a long day or a crazy night out to skip the cleansing routine and easy to head straight to bed. When left overnight, makeup, dirt, and debris can cause breakouts and enlarged pores. Even when the makeup you’re wearing is good for the skin like Gia Minerals foundation we always recommend that face should be clean before hitting your face on that pillow.  So why not resolve to a nightly cleanse this year, no matter what the circumstances. Our recommendation is to cleanse with a cream cleanser and avoid soap cleanser. Soap cleansers dry out the skin and don’t offer the nutrients and vitamins the skin deserves. The right cream cleanser should leave skin feeling fresh, smooth and hydrated. Our popular Green Tea Cleanser offers a clean face every time and is a must try.

3. Don’t Skip The Moisturizer

Now that you have your cleansing routine down pact I hope you are not forgetting the moisturizer. I cannot emphasize how important it is to moisturize at night and in the day. Not being consistent in moisturizing the skin causes wrinkles and premature aging because skin is dehydrated looking for moisture to rescue it. Even if your skin doesn’t feel dry, applying moisturizer after you cleanse is a must. Think of it like conditioning your hair. When you shampoo your hair, it feels clean but needs conditioner to make it soft and manageable for the day; just as your skin needs moisturizer to balance out your cleanser. Carefully select the right moisturizer in your skincare regimen looking for ingredients that offer vitamins and nutrients. Moisturizers with rich oils are worth applying on the skin as they bring the suppleness back offering the flawless complexion you have been looking for. Even if you have oily skin it’s highly advisable to apply a moisturizer, FYI oils help oily skin giving it a balance. If you suffer from oily skin it’s still ok to apply a moisturizer with olive oil as one of the ingredients just apply less.  Moisturizers with olive oil, rosehip seed oil and coconut oil are amazing for the skins properties to revitalize and nourish it.

4. Keep A Consistent Skincare Routine

With so many skincare products on the market, it can be tempting to forgo your routine in order to try something new. It’s important to maintain a consistent skincare routine for at least three months before making any changes to truly see results. Make sure that your skincare routine includes three to four products to see the difference.

Drinking water has many health benefits beyond skincare, but its ability to moisturize skin from the inside out is definitely a plus. Try carrying your own cute water bottle around so there’s no excuse not to hydrate. Water can be boring and some of you might not like drinking it squeeze some lemon in there which will make it more refreshing and tasteful to drink. Lemon works wonders and it’s a great to detoxifier. No excuses!!!

6. Change Your Pillowcases Twice A Week

Also when washing that pillow case avoid detergents with high chemical scents opt for something gentler you are putting your face on it. As tempting as it might be for you to have the urge to pop a zit it can be absolutely overwhelming. Well know it can be extremely damaging to pick at those blemishes or zits. Once you decide to pick at them the area is exposed to bacteria and the pores in that area have become larger. Resist the urge this year and treat your acne right by cleansing the area with activated charcoal which has been added in our Clarifying Face Cleanser and apply acne-fighting Vital Astringent daily.  You’ll be surprised how much quicker your skin will clear up! When applying serums and moisturizers, do you stop at your jawline? Always make sure to apply your facial products onto your neck to keep its delicate skin moisturized and youthful to prevent wrinkles, sagging, and age spots. Your future self with thank you!

10. Eat Fruits & Food Filled With Antioxidants Skin Will Love

Eating a diet rich in antioxidant foods is not only good for your health, it’s great for your skin. Think of it as your internal skincare regime. Free radicals formed by oxidative damage speed up the aging process. Antioxidant rich foods can assist with counteracting this damage caused by pollution, stress, or poor diet. High intakes of vitamin C, beta carotene, and other antioxidants have been linked to a decrease in the appearance of wrinkles and skin dryness.  Free radicals are particles that can harm skin cells and reduce collagen, making skin more wrinkle-prone. You can offset free radical damage by consuming antioxidant-rich blueberries. "With 1/2 cup of blueberries, you can just about double the amount of antioxidants most get in one day. If you want to slow down the free radical aging process, blueberries are the leader of the pack.

Another powerhouse antioxidant that is good for skin is the pomegranate. Here at Gia minerals we don’t only love to eat this yummy red fruit but we also include it in many of our formulations such as our Fountain of Youth Serum & Youth Elixir. Packed with vitamin C, this tart fruit contains more antioxidants than red wine and green tea. It will keep your skin looking bright and wrinkle-free and may even reduce your risk of skin cancer.

Here are the main antioxidants in food and their main dietary sources:

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) - fresh fruits and vegetables.

Vitamin E (tocopherols, tocotrienols) - vegetable oils, nuts, mangoes, broccoli.

Vitamin A - carrots, sweet potato, milk, eggs.

Carotenoids (lycopene, carotenes, lutein) — fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs.

Polyphenolic Antioxidants (resveratrol, flavonoids) - tea, coffee, fruit, olive oil, chocolate, cinnamon, red wine.
